How to Think Through Fourth-Down Decisions
Read distance and field position together
One yard near midfield is a different bet than six yards on your own 28. Distance tells you how likely conversion is; field position tells you the cost of missing.
Account for the clock
Late-game decisions often value possession more than tidy field position. A punt can be correct early and too passive when possessions are running out.
Grade the call before the bounce
The right question is whether the call respected the board at the moment it was made. The ball still has to bounce afterward.
Use it in the franchise
Apply one decision at a time in CALL SHEET, then inspect the roster, cap, standings, statistics, morale, health, or coaching grade that changed. The simulator’s clubs and players are fictional.
