What Makes a Good Football Play-Calling Game?
Start with the situation
A fourth-and-2 at midfield is not the same puzzle as third-and-9 in the red zone. The game should make the key context readable before asking for a call.
Separate process from result
A smart call can fail, and a reckless call can work. Grading the decision apart from the result keeps the loop fair and teaches better instincts.
Keep the choices football-shaped
GO, FG, PUNT, and play concepts should appear only when they fit the context. That constraint makes the puzzle feel like football instead of a random button test.
Use it in the franchise
Apply one decision at a time in CALL SHEET, then inspect the roster, cap, standings, statistics, morale, health, or coaching grade that changed. The simulator’s clubs and players are fictional.
